What if chickens could change lives ?– part 2
We are happy to share a heart warming story with you that is a continuation of our “what if chickens could change lives” story.
You may remember Yasinta and her two sons, our player Elisha and his twin brother Elia. They were sponsored last year to start a small chicken business. Yasinta’s business is doing very well and producing many eggs per week that is helping feed her family. We are delighted to say that we now have an update on the sponsorship of Elia who has severe physical and intellectual disability.
Through our connections in the Arusha community Elia has been sponsored to receive care in a local facility twice a week and has been provided special wooden chair to sit on during the day to practice the movements he learns in his sessions at the disability care facility in Usariver, Tanzania. Previously Elia’s days were spent on the couch and it was up to Yasinta to carry him in and out of the house to provide him with some stimulation. Yasinta cared for Elia 24 hours a day. This new care arrangement provides Yasinta with much needed respite twice a week and has allowed her to start looking for a part-time job to support the family.
This was made possible by two of our senior team members at Lengo Football Academy, Dennis Julius and Amani Mzava and we recognise them for living the Lengo values of team first, work hard and have heart.
This is the result of a team coming together and living in line with their values and we thank the Lengo team in Tanzania for their commitment and hard work to help people in need.
