Abdifatah Ibrahim was born in Somalia during the civil war.
His parents sacrificed everything they had to give him and his siblings a better future, migrating to Australia in mid-2006, when Abdifatah was 12 years old.
Abdifatah started high school with only one year of primary education. In July 2017, he graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting from La Trobe University, becoming the first of nine siblings to finish high school and hold a Bachelor’s degree.
He studied abroad in America at the State University of New York at Oswego during his university studies. From this experience, he developed immensely as a person, becoming a lot more independent and confident.
Abdifatah is proud and grateful that he made a number of beautiful new friendships in Oswego and LaTrobe University during his studies. He says these friendships have made his life much richer and deeper.
Abdifatah strongly encourages everyone to study abroad if they can and make the most out of their
university studies.
He started his career at one of the big 4 accounting firms as audit associate and currently works as Group Senior Financial Accountant at BikeExchange (ASX: BEX).
