Beryl Cook brings characteristic compassion as well as world class corporate leadership, communications and people skills to Lengo and, with a football-mad husband and two teenage boys equally besotted with the beautiful game, it is a match made in heaven for the former News Corporation/Fox global head of human resources.
Beryl joined News Corporation/Fox as a journalist, a junior reporter, and later became a training and human resources executive, eventually working from New York HQ with responsibility for 50,000 News and 21st Century Fox employees worldwide.
She has held leadership positions in the company’s businesses around the world for more than 20 years including News Ltd in Australia, the Fiji Times, the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, STAR TV in Asia, and she was head of HR at BSkyB in London for five years before moving to New York. While reporting to James Murdoch at Sky Beryl was awarded for her work a coveted Career in the Industry award from the International Visual Communications Association at the House of
Lords in London.
Beryl has served as chair of a private school board in Hong Kong, as a member of the Film and Television Sector Skills Industry board in the UK, and chair of the advisory board of a special needs swimming charity in Sydney. She holds a degree in Media, a graduate diploma in Education, and is currently working on an MBA, while always first and foremost a tirelessly devoted mum to her sons.
Beryl has also worked in public service in Canberra and has supported other charitable causes including a school for underprivileged children in New York. From the small outback town of Mareeba, Qld, Beryl has criss-crossed the globe, through scores of countries, as first a backpacker and subsequently in her media career. Having come home to Australia, Beryl says she is captivated by the great work of Lengo, thrilled to be able to make a contribution … and cannot wait to visit the Academy in Tanzania!
