Mark Gemmola has over ten years’ experience in international development. He was a founding director of an Australian charity supporting a grassroots organisation in Cambodia that focuses on education as an enabler of at-risk girls and children from impoverished backgrounds. In this role he led the charity’s successful application for DGR status in Australia, established
detailed financial analysis and forecasting capabilities for the organisation and managed several key donor relationships. Mark also took an active role in the Cambodian operations and travelled there more than 20 times to work closely with the local staff and children.
Mark’s passion for making a difference stems from becoming a serial backpacker after completing university and travelling to more than 50 countries over a period of many years. In his travels, he witnessed unacceptable levels of inequality and committed to using his skills to improve the lives of those who cannot achieve their potential due to entrenched poverty.
