Lengo Football Academy is partnering with Football for Friendship (F4F) in 2018 to bring the FIFA World Cup dream to reality for 24 youth from Tanzania, New Zealand, Australia and 9 Pacific Islands countries. F4F is an annual International Children’s social programme organised by Gazprom, an international company supporting global social projects and setting new standards in relation to social policy.
Taking place in Moscow, Russia on 8-15 June ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the aim of the program is to promote essential values embodied by football with the younger generation such as respect for other cultures and nationalities as well as equality.
We are proud to announce that Ziporah Mollel and Laigwanani Lomayani Mollel from Lengo Football Academy in Arusha have been selected to represent Tanzania in 2018,
Laigwanini and Ziporah (12 years old) will be accompanied to Russia by Lengo Football Academy Operations Manager, Amani Mzava, and Programs’ Manager/Coach, Alvin Girelisu. In Tanzania, we are proudly partnering with Clouds FM/TV Sports icon, football reporter and journalist Shaffih Dauda.
A total of 32 International Teams of Friendship will compete at the Football for Friendship World Championship on 12 June 2018. In the days leading up to the tournament, each player will be trained by young coaches who are football players ranging between 14 and 16 years from various countries. The Championship and training sessions will form the majority of the program in addition to the 2018 International Football for Friendship Children’s Forum. The forum will see participants discussing how to promote the programme’s core values of friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions and honour. The program concludes with all F4F participants attending the opening match of the FIFA World Cup on 14 June 2018 as hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Additionally, more than 5,000 media outlets worldwide will cover the program, which is considered a unique educational project by the United Nations. The Football for Friendship International Children’s Press center, consisting of 12-year-old journalists from the 211 countries and regions, will report their own F4F stories that will be beamed around the world. We are proud that Ziporah will be part of this program for 2018.
This opportunity is the result of Football for Friendship (RUS) program on-going partnership with Lengo Football Academy (TZ) and is endorsed by the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF).
